Hedy provides real-time transcripts of your interviews and discussions, letting you focus on the conversation instead of note-taking. Access your transcripts instantly, making quote verification and content creation more efficient than ever.

Speaker Names for Quote Attribution

A quote you can’t attribute is a quote you can’t use. Hedy separates the voices in an interview and now works out the names behind them from the conversation itself: someone introducing themselves, or another person addressing them by name. Your calendar invite and any Topic context you’ve set help it match the right name to the right voice. When the evidence isn’t there, Hedy leaves the speaker numbered instead of guessing. For a journalist that is the right default, because a wrong name on a quote is worse than no name.

Hedy applies those names once and uses them everywhere it writes, so the transcript, the summary, and your notes agree about who said what. If it gets one wrong, tap the speaker chip above the transcript and type the correct name. Hedy never overwrites a name you set. Each speaker turn also shows when it started, which makes it quicker to find a quote again when you’re checking it.

Speaker names come from the on-device Nemotron speech engine, which you can switch on under Settings → Speech & AI. On iPhone and Apple Silicon Macs, Hedy also runs NVIDIA’s Nemotron 3 Diarization once the interview ends, re-checking who said what on your device. It can track up to eight speakers and handles people talking over each other, which helps with panels and press conferences. It only changes the speaker labels. The words and timestamps stay as they were.

Keeping Sources Protected

AI notetakers raise fair questions about source confidentiality (the Associated Press reported on those concerns in July 2026). Hedy runs speech recognition on your device by default, and the speaker pass runs on your device too, so no interview audio goes to a cloud service to work out who said what. Whether the audio is saved at all is your call: a Save Session Audio switch sits in the start sheet for each session.

The AI step that writes summaries and notes runs in the cloud by default. For sensitive interviews, Local AI Processing moves that step onto your own machine as well, on Apple Silicon Macs, Windows PCs with a capable GPU, iPhone 15 Pro and later, and M-series or A17 Pro iPads. Getting Interviews to Your Editor

Open a session and choose Download Summary, Download Detailed Notes, or Download All Data to save it as plain text, Markdown, Word, or PDF. The transcript has its own Download Transcript action and saves as a text file.

To share a session inside Hedy, send your editor an email invitation. They sign in with a Hedy account (a free one is enough) and see it read-only. You can also publish a session as a public link that opens in any browser without an account, where you choose which sections appear and when the link expires. Be careful with that one. A public link is unlisted, not private: anyone who has the address can open it and forward it. A transcript holds your source’s exact words, so keep confidential interviews to email invitations.

A note on the EU AI Act

If you publish in the EU, Article 50 of the EU AI Act applies from August 2, 2026. It sets transparency rules for AI-generated text published to inform the public on matters of public interest, with an exception for text that went through human review or editorial control and has someone holding editorial responsibility for it. Using AI to transcribe an interview or suggest follow-up questions does not, on its own, turn your article into AI-generated text. Your publication’s AI policy still applies, and your legal team is the place to take specific cases.
